Obituary

George J.Konick,34,of 969 Schoonmaker Ave.,Monessen,died at 4:20 p.m.Thursday,Jan.18,1968,in Veterans Administration Hospital,Oakland,Pittsburgh,of a head injury suffered when he fell from a ladder while on a painting job at Mon Valley General Tire Co.in Monessen on Saturday. The victim was given preliminary treatment at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital before being transferred to the Pittsburgh institution. Mr.Koncik,who was born in Monessen,was graduated from Monessen High School with the Class of 1952. He was a member of St.John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church of Monessen and its choir. He served with the U.S.Army in the Korean Conflict. His father,Charles,died in Nov.,1953. Surviving are his widow,Helen Backo Konick,two daughters,Helen Marie and Dian,and a son,Jeffrey Michael,all at home,his mother,Mrs.Mary Mihalick Konick of Monessen,two sisters,Mrs.Michael (Mary) Kunder and Mrs.Francis (Ann) Burger,both of Monessen,a brother,Charles of Crafton,several nieces and nephews.Friends will be received at the H.Denver Rhome Funeral Home,Monessen,after 7 p.m.Jan.20. Service there Monday,Jan.22,at 8:30 a.m.followed by Requiem Divine Liturgy in St.John the Divine R.O.Church,Monessen,at 9 a.m. The Very Rev.John W.Govrusik,pastor,will officiate. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parastas services at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m.Jan 20 and 21. H.Denver Rhome is funeral director.
