Obituary

Walter U. Hale,58,of 919 Fayette Ave.,Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Nov. 9,1977,at 10:30 a.m. in Allegheny General Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 23,1919, son of the late Frank and Louise Calverly Hale.  Mr. Hale retired in 1974 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church,the F & AM Lodge 643 and the American Legion,all of Belle Vernon. Mr. Hale had served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. Surviving are his widow, Mary Ann Osborne Hale; two sons, Charles Hale of Brownsville and James Hale of Fayette City; two brothers, Frank Hale of Fort Lauderdale,Fla and Charles Hale of California,Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. August (Genevieve) Vandermer of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Vincent (Thelma) Boag of Fort Lauderdale,Fla., and one granddaughter,Cari Lynn Hale.  Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.  Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Dr. David Blaine Kable of the Westmoreland Charge of the Methodist Church,of Scottdale,officiatig  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Masonic services will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home by F&AM Lodge 643 of Belle Vernon.  Shelby D. Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
