Obituary

Alex M. Halkowitz,50,of 609 Fayette Ave.,Belle Vernon died Thursday, June 24,1971, in McKeesport Hosptial at 4:15 a.m.  He had been ill for the past two months. Mr. Halkowitz,a veteran of World War II,where he served with the Army Engineers,was the manager for the Service Engineering Department of Lee-Norse,a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand Company. A native of West Newton,he lived most of his life in Belle Vernon. Survivors include his widow,Frances Hanks Halkowitz; two sons, Michael and Ronald, at home; one daughter, Janice, at home;his father, Michael Halkowitz of Belle Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Regis (Magdaline) Greenway of Pittsburgh,Margaret Halkowitz of Belle Vernon and Mrs. James (Frances) Whittaker of Monongahela.  His mother, Magdeelea (Margaret) Halkowitz died in 1965. Friends are being received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martin O'Toole officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
