Obituary

The Conflict in Vietnam has claimed another Mon Valley victim. He is Spec.4 Larry Owen Harden,20,son of Mr.and Mrs.Melvin Harden of 1354 Sadowski St.,Fairhope. Spec.Harden was killed Tuesday,Jan.5,1971,while serving as a crew chief aboard a helicopter which crashed while on a mission. Licensed by the Federal Avaition Agency (FAA) as an air mechanic,Harden was a 1967 graduate of belle vernon Area high School and had also graduated from the Pittsburgh institute of Aeronautics. He was a lifetime member of the Charleroi chapter of DeMolay. Survivors include his parents,Melvin O.and Georgina Bush Harden,one sister,Mrs.Charles (Becky Lee) Wood of Greenburg R.D.5,and his paternal grandmother,Mrs.Elsie T.Harden of Fairhope. Services for Spec.4 Harden will be held Jan.16 with burial in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
