Charles C. Haywood, 77, of Vesta was dead on arrival at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital.Tuesday,July 21, 1970, at 10:35 p.m. Born in Vesta,he was a son of the late Thomas and Catherine Conaghan Haywood. Mr. Haywood, a retired assistant lockmaster at Lock No.4,was a member of American Legion Post 22 of Charleroi and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow,Emma Everly Haywood;a daughter,Gail Haywood of Belle Vernon;two sons,Roy of Penn Hills and Frank of Charleroi;two brothers,Melvin of Fredericktown and George of Ellsworth and five grandchildren. Friends will be received at Harold L. Schrock Funeral Home,Charleroi,from 7 to 9 p.m.Wednesday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Service there Friday, July 24, at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold L. Shrock is funeral director.
