Obituary

A 6 1/2-year-old Rostraver Twp. boy was killed Tuesday,April 14,1964,when he was struck by a car while playing near his home. David Nelson Haines Linderman,of 1115 Broad Ave.,Ext.,Belle Vernon,was prounounced dead on arrival at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital at 4:50 p.m. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen Yoney reported death was caused by shock,fractured skull and fractured cervical spine. State Police said the victim was playing with friends when he dashed into the path of an auto driven by Joseph Francis Barney,22,of 207 Orchard Ave.,Belle Vernon. The accident occurred at 4:20 p.m. at Broad Ave.Ext. and Johnson Ave. Barney was placed under $1,000 bond on an involuntary manslaughter charge pending a coroner's inquest. The victim was a kindergerten student at LeGrange School in Pricedale and attended Sunday School at the First Baptist Church,Monessen. He is survived by his mother,Mrs.Lee Santmyer Linderman,and stepfather James L.Linderman,two sisters,Joan and Kimberly Lynn,at home,four brothers,Gary,Terry,Roy and James,at home,grandmothers,Mrs.Olive Santmyer of Brownsville and Mrs.Blanche Landman of Brownsville,and a grandfather,David Linderman of Belle Vernon. Friends are being received at the Toner Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,with visiting hours from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday,April 17,at 2 p.m. with the Rev.Allen Herman,pastor of the First Baptist Church,Monessen,officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner,funeral director.
