Ralph Velio “Val” Iacoboni of Rostraver Township, 95, died Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born in Monessen on June 8, 1921 and raised in Tagliacozzo, Italy. He was the son of the late Dominic and Lucia Ciucci Iacoboni. In 1938, he returned to the U.S. where he worked for the Works Progress Administration, in which he worked on many roads in the local area. He went on to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Western region of the country to do timbering and other labor jobs. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was a longstanding, Rostraver Township proprietor starting in 1951. He was the owner-operator of “Val’s Gas and Carwash.” His first business was on Route 906 for twenty-three years. He continued his business on Route 201 in 1978. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, and he was a member of Elks in Charleroi. He was an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 699 and Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Val had a passion for big bands, dancing, spending time with his family, and snow skiing. He skied until he was 87 years old. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Romilda Nesti Iacoboni, one sister Nella Iacoboni, one son Ralph Iacoboni, one granddaughter Julia Iacoboni, and one grandson Dominic Mavrikas. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Raymond and Rosemary Tenuta Iacoboni, daughter and son-in-law Rosemary and Tom Mavrikas, seven grandchildren, Angela, Gina, Maria Iacoboni, Ryan and Anthony Mavrikas, Tessa and Cara Iacoboni, and six great grandchildren Payton, Dante, Ryder, Kazmira, Liviana, and Rocco. Visitation will be held Monday from 3-5 & 7-9pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Ralph Iacoboni Monday at 3 pm and the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Monday evening at 7 pm both in the funeral home.
