Obituary

Martin Davin, Jr., 94, of Belle Vernon, Lynnwood, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 12:42 am at Hallsworth House, Monessen.  Born January 5, 1922 in Monessen, he was the son of the late Martin Davin Sr. and Louise Carney Davin Mavrogeorge.  A resident of Belle Vernon area for the past 68 years, Mr. Davin was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen, was a retire rigger from Whg-Pgh Steel, Monessen Plant and  was a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Army.  Martin enjoyed going to dances throughout the Valley, was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing poker in several clubs, traveling and bus trips to the casinos. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is survived by a daughter & son in law Nancy & Charles Leeper of Perryopolis, granddaughter Jodi Basile Mima & fiance Scott Downer, two great grandsons Joshua Mima, Jacob Mima; son in law William Basile & wife Dorothy of Newell.  He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Tadavich Davin, a daughter Kathy Basile, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Funeral services will be held Friday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Stephen J. Wahal  of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church officiating.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the owners and staff at Hallsworth House and Viaquest hospice for their special care and kindness.
